Donald Wade Bassham, age 70, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 25.
Donald, known to family and friends as Donnie, was born in Dumas, Texas on September 6, 1954 to Virgil and Betty Bassham. His dad moved the family to Fort Stockton in 1964, where Donnie graduated from FSHS in 1973. He attended First Christian Church throughout his adult life. He worked for 50 years in the oil industry as a hot oiler & pumper.
Donald had a variety of passions including hunting, fishing and playing music with his friends. Family & friends were some of the most important things in his life. He raised 4 children Donnie, Tarina, Derek and Wesley and considered Sarah Hatley his daughter as well. His son’s favorite memories are of fishing at Balmorhea Lake and Amistad Lake and learning to shoot at the shooting range. He was preceded in death by his father Virgil Bassham. He leaves behind to honor his legacy; two sons, Derek (wife Amber) & Wesley, 2 grandchildren, Tim & Elliot Bassham, his mother Betty Bassham Smith (husband Roy), a brother Joe Bassham (wife Connie), a sister Verna Fathree (husband Jerry), two nephews, one niece, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
