Concepcion “Chon” Gomez, Jr.
Concepcion “Chon” Gomez, Jr., 55, of Imperial, Texas, passed away on March 6, 2022, in Odessa, Texas.
Chon was born in Uvalde, Texas, to Concepcion Gomez and Francisca Esparza on Dec. 3, 1966. He went to school at Buena Vista, where he played football and was voted Mr. BVHS in 1985. He married the love of his life Cynthia (Chavez) Gomez on Oct. 24, 1992, in Fort Stockton, Texas.
He showed interest working as a mechanic while on the ranch at the age of eight, and became a diesel mechanic professionally during his adult life. He would work as a mechanic for the community regularly throughout his professional career. Chon volunteered as a firefighter in Imperial from 1986-1989 and 2008-2010.
Chon, known to the community as DJ Bull, was an avid Cowboys fan, loved to fish, was the local Santa Claus, supported the kids of the community, and loved to cook and garden. He was a loving husband, caring uncle, wise father, and grateful son.
Chon was preceded in death by his mother Frances; uncles June, Lee, and Joe; and cousin Angie.
Chon is survived by his wife Cynthia Gomez; children Concepcion Gomez, Jr., and spouse Chloe Christensen, Kevin, and Markus Gomez; sister Frances; brothers Cruz and Carlos Gomez; and father Concepcion Gomez.
Pallbearers will be Concepcion Gomez, Jr., Kevin Gomez, Markus Gomez, Eric Gomez, Corry Cobb, and Steven McEligot.
Visitation was March 10, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. Rosary was March 10, 2022, also at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. Funeral Mass was March 11, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Internment followed at Imperial Cemetery.
