Claudette Kerr, 80, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away Dec. 11, 2021. She was born Oct. 17, 1941, in Rosiclare, Ill., to Elton and Pearl Kerr.

She attended Fort Stockton schools, and lived in Fort Stockton most of her life. She was a legendary night club owner in Fort Stockton. She owned and managed eight night clubs throughout her life beginning with the Golden Horseshoe in Grants, N.M., before moving back to Fort Stockton and operating the Ramada Inn lounge. She managed clubs at the Sunday House, Texan Inn and Sands. She owned and managed Cat Ballou night club and the Atrium night club, all before opening Claudette’s Sports Bar for her golfers.

She was a member of the Eagles, and served as past madam president for then organization. After her night clubs closed, she worked at Southwest Vet Clinic with Dr. Miller, but always had dreams of reopening a night club.

She was an avid golfer, and traveled to different tournaments with the ladies golf group. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys on TV, and listening to the Fort Stockton Panthers football games on KFST.

Claudette is survived by her two children, daughter Vicki Mitchell and husband Snyder of Fort Stockton, and son Tony Brooke and fiancé Stacy Hall of Farmington, N.M.; two grandsons, Rankin Mitchell and wife Amanda, and Cole Mitchell of Fort Stockton; great grand daughter Clara Mitchell; and one niece.

A memorial service will be held on Jan. 22, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 North Oklahoma, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Jim Miles officiating.

The family would like to thank caregiver Elpidia Olvera and nurse Beverly Dutchover for the care and compassion they each gave to Claudette.
