Blas Lopez, 83, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away on Jan. 26, 2022, in Fort Stockton.
Blas Lopez was born in Barstow, Texas, to Panfilo Lopez and Rosa Mata on Nov. 29, 1938. He was a graduate of Pyote High School in Pyote, Texas.

He was in the Air Force for two years after high school, and received an honorable discharge. He married his beautiful bride Elfida Venegas on Aug. 15, 1970, in Odessa, Texas. He retired after 24 years as a pumper from Texaco, Inc. He was a member of the GI Forum in Fort Stockton, and he was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

Blas enjoyed his time with his loved ones. His hobbies were collecting baseball cards, and you could also catch him watching the Dallas Cowboys or the Texas Rangers on the television.
Blas Lopez was preceded in death by his first son Joe Angel Lopez, his parents, and his brother.
Blas Lopez is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elifda Venegas Lopez; his three children, Oscar Rene Lopez, Esther Venegas Lopez, and Diana Venegas Lopez.
Funeral Mass was held on Jan. 31, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish-St. Josephs Catholic Church, with Father Francis Njoku officiating. Burial followed at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.

The family of Blas Lopez wishes to extend its sincere thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Pecos County Memorial Hospital who worked hard to help Blas. The family would also like to thank Father Francis Njoku and everyone who helped with the planning of the funeral mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, and to thank Nancy Olvera and the staff of Eternity Funeral Home for the guidance with the funeral arrangements.
