Family members of longtime Fort Stockton resident, Maria Dominga Galindo, held a birthday celebration for her 102nd birthday on April 3 at her residence in Fort Stockton. Approximately 80 family members and friends helped celebrate her birthday with her on Saturday. Galindo’s birthday is officially on April 13. The resident of Fort Stockton has lived in the community since 1985. Galindo was married to her husband, Ramon, for 66 years before he passed away in 2007. The couple had 16 children. In all, they had 64 grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. Photos by Nathan Heuer

On a roll: Panthers snag third district victory

Fort Stockton’s success against district opponents continued on Tuesday as the Panthers took an early lead and never looked back in their 10-5 victory over Monahans.

Daren Ureste shifted the tide in the early stages of Tuesday’s homestand, hitting an inside-the-park home run in the second inning. The at-bat turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead for his team’s during Tuesday’s homestand against Monahans.

Softball: Prowlers narrow gap, come up short in Monahans rematch

Errors have proven costly for the Fort Stockton softball team this season and that was the case once again on Tuesday in a rematch with Monahans at home.

Fort Stockton committed eight errors on defense – nearly twice their season average (4.2) – in their 21-7 loss.

Fort Stockton softball showed an improvement from their first showing against the Lady Loboes as the Prowlers fell to Monahans in their first meeting 26-1 on March 16.
