A major waterline break occurred last week behind the Pecos County Precinct 2 office within the county yard at 202 S. Hwy 285.

City crews were on the scene making repairs Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 11:30 a.m. and continued working overnight until 5:00 a.m. the next morning.

The city lost approximately 1.9 million gallons of water at a rate of 2,800 gallons per minute and 16,800 gallons per hour for 17-hours. Financially, the leak was calculated to be a loss of $5,800.

City employees Gabriel "Batman" Ureste and Jason Bernal were waist-deep in water while battling a leak of nearly two-million gallons. The overnight efforts included the labor of the city's water and waste water departments with the help of the Pecos County Water Improvement District No.1. Courtesy Photo

“My family tells me that I was always obsessed with hair,” Rodriguez said.

Excitement is in the air for Cynthia Soliz, Lydia Rodriguez and Angela Lopez. The Red Shears Hair Studio team celebrated relocating the business to 906 W Dickinson Blvd, a larger space that will welcome more clients. Photo by Megan Wehring

FSISD to request testing days waiver

Body

The Fort Stockton Independent School District is looking to keep some students home on testing days.

At its Oct. 18 meeting, the FSISD School Board unanimously approved submitting a request for the Modified Schedule State Assessment Testing Days Waiver (2021-2024). This would allow students who are not testing to attend school after the testing period, therefore reducing the number of interruptions.
