Pecos County to Honor Fallen Veterans at Zero Stone Park Memorial Day Ceremony
Residents of Pecos County are preparing to gather in a collective act of remembrance as the annual Memorial Day Celebration approaches. Scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026, the ceremony will commence at 10:00 a.m. at Zero Stone Park, serving as the community’s primary tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in military service.
Michael Pules, the newly appointed Pecos County Veterans Service Officer (CVSO), recently issued a message to the community emphasizing the gravity of the occasion. Pules noted that while many see the holiday as the start of summer or a three-day weekend, its true purpose is a solemn time to pause and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for the United States. He stated that their sacrifices secured the freedoms enjoyed by citizens today and that the county has a privilege and duty to keep their memories alive.
Central to this year’s ceremony is a personalized tribute to local veterans who have passed away within the last year. To ensure no one is overlooked, Pules is calling on families and friends to submit the names of their deceased loved ones for inclusion in the formal program. The submission requirements are specific to ensure a detailed and respectful presentation: families must provide the veteran’s full name, military rank, branch of service, date of birth, and date of death. Additionally, the specific war or conflict in which the individual served should be included in the report.
