Nancy Irene Tarter passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 19. She was born to Jordan and Lillie Fay (Cole) Allen on September 3, 1940, in Dallas, Texas.

Nancy and her husband Powell were married on May 30, 1964. They moved to Fort Stockton in 1968 and lived there for 57 years and raised two children, Bobby and Christina Tarter, before moving in with their son and daughter-in-law to Wichita, Kansas earlier this year.

Nancy worked in various positions at Snyder National Bank and Pecos County State Bank for over 30 years. She attended the Methodist Church in Fort Stockton. She also volunteered at Pecos County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as part of the “Pink Ladies.”

She loved gardening and flowers. Her entire backyard was full of plants. She enjoyed volunteering, crafting, and reading. Nancy loved her pets, cats and dogs, and she was a loving mother and a proud grandmother.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Jordan and Lillie Allen; sisters, Jean Carruthers and Edna Blankenship and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, Powell Tarter; children, Bobby (Stephanie) Tarter, Christina Tarter; brother, Bobby Allen; grandchildren, Matthew Tarter and Tyler Tarter; one niece; one nephew and her fur babies, Fluffy and Tucker.

Nancy had a beautiful smile, kind heart, and will be missed by family and friends.
