Peadra LeTeri Onsurez has completed her mural of Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ on the building at the corner of 5th and Front streets in Fort Stockton. Onsurez had been working on the project for several weeks and has been encouraged by the outpouring of positive support of her efforts, saying she painted the mural with permission of the building’s owner because she drives by the building while taking her son the school every day. “Starry Night is my gift to the kids and the citizens of Fort Stockton, it’s all for them,” she said, adding that she plans to paint ‘Frida’ by Van Gogh adjacent to Starry Night. She thanked the community for their support and encouragement, including Rigo, Augie III, Ory, Norma, Albert A., Cordelia and Augie Sr., “And, of course, Jesus,” she added. Photos by Shawn Yorks
