Hernandez earns bronze at state powerlifting meet
Rosa Hernandez won every meet she competed in for the Fort Stockton girl’s powerlifting team heading into the state meet on Friday, March 17 in Frisco.
The senior put forth another outstanding performance in her final meet as a Prowler.
Hernandez improved five spots from her performance at state a season ago, earning a bronze medal with a third-place finish in the 97-pound weight class on Friday.
Belle Urbano had the second-highest finish for the Prowlers, taking seventh in the 114-pound division.
Jazmin Hernandez and Alyssa Rangel took eighth while Daeja Dominguez placed 15th in the 165-pound class.
“We were led by our three seniors Rosa Hernandez, Yadira Hernandez and Beverly Baeza who were all multi-year state qualifiers,” Fort Stockton coach Dee Dee De La O said. “The Prowler powerlifting program has a bright future.”
