A total of five local seats within the Fort Stockton Independent School District School Board and the Fort Stockton City Council will be decided in the upcoming May 7 election.

Early voting for the election began on April 25 and will run through Tuesday, May 3. Registered voters inside the county have the ability to early vote at any of the following locations: Pecos County Annex, Iraan Community Center, Imperial Community Center, Coyanosa Community Center.

Polling locations are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 25-29, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 2-3.

Residents, who are registered voters, living inside of Fort Stockton city limits will be voting for three city county seats. Incumbents Darren Hodges, Pam Palileo, and James Warnock are rerunning for their city council positions and will be contested by RJ Bernal, Isai Rojas, and Mike Stallard.

All city council seats are at large – meaning voters can choose any three candidates no matter the area of the city they reside in.

Residents living inside of the school district’s ward No. 2 borders will have three candidates they can vote for. Incumbent Alfredo “Freddie” Martinez is running against Valerie Bueno and Felix Rodriguez.

Those residing inside of the school district’s ward No. 5 will have two candidates to choose from in incumbent Sandra Rivera and Gloria Ortiz.

Any residents, who are registered voters, living inside of any school district ward will have the opportunity to vote on the Fort Stockton ISD bond election. There are five separate propositions on the ballot (see page 14 of print or e-edition for more information).

The District Clerk runoff between Tammy Lujan and Darla Cude will decided during the Republican Primary Run-Off Election scheduled for May 24. Early voting will be from May 16-20.
