Wildfire prevention
Texas A&M Forest Service is working to spread wildfire prevention messaging across Texas. Some parts of Texas have recently received some winter precipitation. While any type of precipitation can reduce wildfire danger temporarily, areas with limited rain or snow fall will become dry again soon.
Community members should remember that even after it rains or snows, obey local burn bans and regulations set by the city or county. And remember that rain or snow falls, wind blows, sun shines, and grass dries. Existing vegetation is may be cured, and will dry out more quickly than live vegetation.
