Commissioners to vote on budget, tax rate

The Pecos County Commissioners Court is set to vote on the 2022 budget and tax rate next month.

The estimated total tax rate, according to the budget summary, is 0.755 per $100 valuation compared to this year’s rate of 0.07074.

Estimated balances for Dec. 31, 2022 are $20,020,649.84 for the general fund, $832,753.89 for R&B maintenance and $7,114,885 for other funds. This is a total balance of $27,968,288.73, which is $2,276,487.93 more than this year.

Items in other funds include the Desert Pines Golf Course, airport fund, election services, technology fund, employee health benefits and fire equipment fund.

Commissioners will meet on Aug. 16 to adopt the budget and on Aug. 23 to adopt the tax rate. Both meetings will have a public hearing.
