The Pecos County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) and Fort Stockton Independent School District (FSISD) are working together to make sure students have the opportunity to receive their required vaccinations before school starts on Monday, Aug. 14.

After a series of budget workshops, the Pecos County Commissioner’s Court and county staff have set a proposed budget for fiscal year 2023-2024. The budget reflects a tax decrease across the board.

In response to work of a committee of teachers from every Fort Stockton Independent School District campus, and both campus and district- level administrators, the Fort Stockton ISD has been approved by the Texas Education Agency as a designated Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) district.

In an abbreviated special Fort Stockton City Council Meeting Monday evening, the city council discussed a proposed lower property tax rate for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The city is just beginning the budget process as the new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

The 2023-2024 school year begins Aug. 14 and registration for the upcoming year will begin for all campuses on Aug. 2.

Speakers to discuss weather, beef cattle topics The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Sandhills Beef Cattle Conference will take place Aug. 5 at the Ward County Events Center, 1525 Monahans Parkway in Monahans.

The Fort Stockton Film Society is hosting “date night” with a showing of the “national movie of Texas”, Giant on Saturday, July 29 at 7 p.m. As an added feature, there will be a classic Warner Brothers cartoon screened just before the main feature.
