School Starts for FSISD

This past Monday, the Fort Stockton Independant School District with its students, parents, and teachers began their new school year. Many people have been working tirelessly this and the previous month to prepare for the encroaching scholastic calendar.

Entertainment at Barrio Fest 2024

Barrio Fest 2024 has several entertainment venues scheduled for this year starting Friday, September 13 through Sunday, September 15. The music on Saturday sponsored by the CVB will be hosted by Tejano Mix from El Paso starting at 10:00 a.m. until The Cumbia Movement from Austin takes the stage at 8:00 p.m. for a street dance.

The Fort Stockton Panthers are deep in the grind of their Fall Camp two-a-days. With the first scrimmage just around the corner on August 16 and the season opener at home against San Angelo Lakeview on August 30th, the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming football season are noticeable. I sat down with Athletic Director Jeremey Hickman, now in his third year at Fort Stockton ISD, to discuss the start of Fall Camp and what lies ahead for the Panthers.

2nd Annual Fort Stockton Barrio Fest Baseball Event

For the 2nd Annual Fort Stockton Barrio Fest Baseball Event in 2024, there will be a commemorative celebration Baseball Legends game in honor and recognition of the historic baseball teams of our past, the Fort Stockton Blue Sox and the Fort Stockton Sonics. Queen Contestants from the past and also the nearby town team of the Pecos A’s will be recognized.

Rotary Hosts Service Project for District Governor

District Governor Yasser Murga was recently welcomed to Fort Stockton by the Fort Stockton Rotary Club. The Club hosted a presentation event with a service project at the Midland College Fort Stockton campus, the Williams Regional Technical Training Center (WRTTC).
