School board to potentially approve buying bulk student supplies for students
The Fort Stockton ISD school board meeting will cover numerous important items involving the upcoming school year at their meeting on July 26 at 7 p.m. at the district’s administrative building.
Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Zamora will present the board the idea of providing the students with school supplies for a cost of $20 per student. The agenda states that his recommendation will be based on the quotes he receives between when the packet was put together and the time the meeting starts.
There would be an opt out option for parents if the action item is approved.
Other items of note include transitioning from a six-week grading period to a nine-week grading period. The meeting packet notes a nine-week grading period reduces the administrative task of producing 12 progress/report cards down to 8. This means less money is spent on paper, envelope, cost of mail. This time is redirecting to teaching, staff development, parent meetings, and student improvement plans.
