Democrat John Lira, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives District 23, visited Pecos County and the Fort Stockton Pioneer on July 29 as a part of his ‘Boots on the Ground Tour’ that features stops in all 29 counties that make up the district. Lira spoke on his desire to update asylum laws to improve the immigration process, implementing enhanced background checks/license as a requirement to acquire semi-automatic weapons, and his support for the oil industry.
