FSCT to host Story to Health Workshop
A free Story to Health workshop will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 1-3 p.m. at the FMH Meeting Hall of Fort Stockton Community Theatre. Peoples’ stories are a powerful influence on life choices. Sharing personal stories is a way to improve wellness. The theme of the event will be built around experiences of gratitude, as gratitude is a powerful influencer of health backed by tradition and science. The Story to Health workshop will be facilitated by Dijo John, Senior Director of the Rural and Community Engagement Division of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center- Permian Basin. His division manages the Medicine on the Move program – a mobile health initiative to engage communities for better health. Dijo has graduatelevel training in pharmacy, public health, and management.
Fort Stockton Community Theatre recognizes the usefulness, the power, and the value of sharing stories and is eager to host this workshop on Nov. 5. There is no charge for the workshop. Registration is not required, but it will be helpful to know how many people to plan for. Call Alice Duerksen at 432-336-3180 to sign up for The Story to Health Workshop to share your stories of gratitude. It is hoped that other workshops can be held to bring people and their stories together. Everyone with a story to tell is invited to attend this interactive workshop.
