Texas Border Sheriffs Issue Joint Statement

Body
In a unified voice, five elected sheriffs from the Big Bend region of Texas have issued a joint statement arguing that a continuous physical border wall is “not the most practical or strategic approach” for their specific stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border. The statement, signed by Sheriffs Arvin West (Hudspeth), Oscar Carrillo (Culberson), Danny Dominguez (Presidio), Ronny Dodson (Brewster), and Thaddeus Cleveland (Terrell), emphasizes that border security strategies must be informed by “local terrain, operational realities, and fiscal responsibility”.

Vision for a High-Speed Future in District 23

Body
After a long drive from Fort Stockton, Santos Limon pulls into his campaign office in San Antonio, reflecting on a district that takes “all day to get where you’re going.” Limon, a civil engineer running for U.S. Congress in District 23, doesn’t just see the vast Texas landscape as a distance to be traveled; he sees it through the lens of a family legacy built on steel rails and a professional future he hopes to transform with highspeed technology.
A recent “Meet the Candidate” forum in Fort Stockton left a deep impression on Santos Limon. In an era of political polarization, he witnessed members of different parties sitting together to discuss the community’s needs. “I saw two political parties in one room... all for the common good of the community,” he remarked, calling the town a “prime example of what our country needs right now.” Pioneer Photo by Joh Covington
