GARDENER’S MAILBAG Dear Neil: I save amaryllis bulbs soon after the holiday season from friends and neighbors and plant them in a protected spot in my garden. The plants do well, and the new bulbs usually bloom the first year, but rarely do I get blooms after that first year.

Prowlers pound Pecos on Senior Night

Body
Fort Stockton honored its seniors the right way Tuesday night, turning Senior Night into an offensive outburst and a statement district win as the Prowlers rolled past Pecos 14-4 at home. The win came at an important point in the season, with Fort Stockton bouncing back and staying in the thick of the district title race ahead of Friday’s showdown with Andrews. Senior Night against Pecos and Friday’s home matchup with Andrews were both part of the scheduled final district stretch for the Prowlers.

She was from our Church

Body
Her husband had a stroke years ago, was partially paralyzed and she was the caregiver. As time went on, she encountered different health problems and finally heart problems. She became very sick and they called in hospice. We went to visit her when she was on hospice, her mind was very clear and she said, “I am ready to go on”. Her big concern was who or how would her husband be taken care of. She lived several more weeks before passing away. She had a smile and a look of contentment and was looking forward to passing on. You see, she had accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior years ago, (Romans 10:13, John 3:16, John 1:12&13), and it really changed her life, (2 Corinthians 5:17, Isaiah 41:10, Lamentations 3:23&23). Her husband was a Christian also and they were always there in church, him in his wheelchair and her right beside him. I would always stop, talk and kid with them. She loved music and especially Christian music. Sometimes we might briefly share what we had listened to lately. We both liked The Gaither’s but others also. When I walk into church now there is a vacant spot where they used to sit and I miss them. I look forward to that day when I will be with her and many others that have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

JAMES 1:2627 If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
