County Sees Voting Location Update

The Pecos County election administrator, Sophia Franco, opened her new office to welcome the community last Tuesday, National Voter Registration Day. Franco and Aimee Bislar, the assistant election administrator, saw a good crowd in the Pecos County Courthouse Annex, many who were interested in seeing not only their new office, which is where voting used to take place and which has been freshly painted and carpeted, but also to see where they will be voting in the quickly approaching election.

Milton R. Williamson

Milton R. Williamson, 79, passed away on Monday, August 26, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Milton was born on September 27, 1944, in Big Spring, Texas, to Gordon and Myrtle Williamson. He was the landscape foreman at Geo Prison Systems of Texas for 23.5 years. Milton was a very Patriotic American; he led several groups of Vets to tour Washington DC. He loved meeting other veterans and building friendships. He always had a smile and something funny to say to brighten anyone’s day. He was very loved and will be very missed. During retirement he enjoyed working on small engines.

Last week, local businesses gathered at the Fort Stockton Community Theatre for the Texas Treasure Business Awards to honor their time in the community. The First National Bank, Nolen’s Pharmacy, Remie’s Body Shop, Casa de Moda, and The Fort Stockton Pioneer have been a part of the Fort Stockton tapestry for over half a century.
