FSCT to present ‘Bonnie and Clyde’

Fort Stockton Community Theatre announces that tickets are on sale for the performances of the musical “Bonnie and Clyde,” written and performed by Texas Comedies of Austin, Texas. Georgia and Bentley King/Southwest Marketers are sponsoring the show which will be Saturday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at The Nelson Street Theatre 102 South Nelson Street.

Fort Stockton Film Society to screen Return to Giant, Aug. 19

In the summer of 1955 an army of actors, prop masters and camera men arrived in the tiny town of Marfa to film “the national movie of Texas,” Giant. So what happened during their short stay there? That is the premise of the 58-minute documentary, Return to Giant, which will screen this Saturday, August 19, at the Nelson Street Theater at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:30.

The annual Davis Mountain Hummingbird Celebration returns on August 17, inviting bird and nature lovers from near and far to experience West Texas like never before. The celebration has roots that started in backyards with hummingbird feeders and evolved into a renowned event built by volunteers.

48th annual Arts and Crafts Show awards 2022-2023 scholarships

The 48th annual Arts and Crafts Show took placed on Nov. 19, 2022. Each year, the show’s proceeds are awarded as scholarships to area graduating seniors. As an event of the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce, it is organized by a Chamber Committee. Chairperson of the Arts and Crafts Show, Miriam Forgacs, works hard to ensure the event is a success and is very proud to award the scholarships each year. The three scholarship recipients are Dominic Bernal, Arial Smith and Jovany Hernandez.

Major upgrades planned for three iconic hotel properties

An initial plan to upgrade three historic hotels and perhaps buy another was revealed to the Alpine Business Alliance Tuesday. Charles Mallory, the existing owner of the Holland, is bringing on new partners Collin Bibb and Brian Carrico from Byways Hospitality to aid in the renovation and restoration of the hotels.
