Pecos County Livestock Show winners announced

Winners of the Pecos County Stock Show were revealed this past week and James Tinkler with the Buena Vista FFA came away as the most decorated participant.

Tinkler was the lone two-time grand champion at the annual event held at the Pecos County Coliseum. The Buena Vista ISD student was grand champion of the Wether Does (class 3) and Market Goats divisions. Tinkler added a reserve champion recognition for Wether Does class 4 and a showmanship award for goats.

Iraan-Sheffield FFA’s Harper Ice took home grand champion honors in the Market Lamb division and earned breed champion for Medium Wool Market Lambs.

Madison Hanson with West of the Pecos 4-H was the grand champion of the American Steer division. In addition, she claimed supreme champion recognition for Breeding Gilts and won the senior showmanship award for the cattle category.

West of the Pecos 4-H’s Carla Vasquez snagged a grand champion and supreme champion honor along with Hanson.

Vasquez was grand champion in the Market Swine division and supreme champion in the Breeding Gilt division. She added a junior swine showmanship award to her 4-H resume.

Meagan Hanson was the reserve grand champion for Market Steers and won the showmanship award for junior cattle.

Iraan-Sheffield FFA’s Atlanta Bolen earned dual recognition in the same manner as Meagan, claiming reserve grand champion honors in the Market Lamb division and showmanship recognition for sheep.

Julianna Gonzales with Iraan-Sheffield FFA was the Market Swine Reserve Grand Champion while teammate Cade Craves earned Medium Weight Market Goats Reserve Grand Champion.

Supreme champions not previously mentioned included Mackenzie Allen (Dorper Ewe division) and Kali Davis (Dorper Ram division).

Rounding out showmanship awards were Iraan-Sheffield FFA’s Sophia Gonzales (senior swine) and Jaelyn Cockrell (senior sheep).

The livestock show platinum sponsors were: Continental Energy, JS&M, Inc., McCoy’s Building Supply, Wiest Tire.

Gold sponsors included McKenzie Land and Livestock and YT Ranch.

Silver sponsors were: Century Trailer, Clayton Williams Ranch Company, Eastern Plains Insurance, Hayter Ranch, Lowell Woodward Ranch, Nova Mud, Inc. / Ken and Judy Browley, Spring Branch Water Well Service.
