Esports participants thriving at FSISD

Fort Stockton High School’s Fernando Corrales is currently a top-20 ranked esports chess player in the statewide program FSISD is taking part in. Corrales was also selected as an allstate band member earlier this year.

Fort Stockton ISD middle school and high school students have found great deal of success in the first year of esports existence within the district.

Fernando Corrales went undefeated in his first three esports chess matches and is now ranked in the top 20 chess players in program statewide via a 3-1 record.

The Fort Stockton Middle School Apex Legends team featuring Ka’eon Luna, Christian Soto, and Juan Romero are currently in first place while the junior varsity team of Joel Rico, Jayden Armstrong, Edgar Hernandez sits in fourth place in their respective division.

The middle school Fortnite varsity team (Joshua Walton, James Warren, Easton Warren) are in 13th place in the standings. In the junior varsity Fortnite division at the middle school level, Fort Stockton is in 12th place. The JV squad consists of Saul Natividad, Navieve Feyry, and Heaven Brewer.

The Fuelers – Fort Stockton High School’s Overwatch team – is ranked sixth in the standings, sharing a 4-0 score with seven other teams according to coach Keith Villanueva.

The high school’s Fortnite team is ranked eighth in the standings.
