Jose Luis Garza Baeza, 71, passed away on November 10, in Cedar Park, Texas. He was born on July 29, 1954, in Imperial, Texas, to Maria Salgado Baiza and Manuel Baiza, and was lovingly adopted by Valeriano Baeza and Maria Portillo Baeza, who raised him with deep love and devotion. Joe was raised in Fort Stockton, Texas, where he grew up surrounded by family and friends, and proudly graduated from Fort Stockton High School.

FSISD Board Celebrates Students, Advances Rec Center Renovation, and Prepares for Leadership Transition

The Fort Stockton ISD Board of Trustees met Wednesday, November 19, for a wide-ranging meeting that blended student celebrations, major facilities updates, legal transparency actions, and preparations for the district’s upcoming superintendent transition. All trustees were present: Kay Griffith, Freddie Martinez, Anastacio “Nacho” Dominguez, Jennifer Gonzales, Sandra Rivera, Ursula Sanchez, and Board President Flo Garcia.

Tiny Tot Learning Center Celebrates Two Decades

Tiny Tot Learning Center is marking a significant milestone this year, celebrating 20 years of providing high-quality early childhood education to the Fort Stockton community. The center, which first opened its doors in 2005, is commemorating its anniversary in 2025.

REC Board Moves Toward External Audit

Pop Warner Tournament Nixed; Concession Stand Policy for School Groups Under Consideration Over the span of two meetings on November 12 and November 19, the Intergovernmental Recreation Board (REC) and Fort Stockton city officials took significant steps to address lingering concerns surrounding the Recreation Department’s leadership and finances. Discussions ranged from the cancellation of a major youth tournament, to updates on the ongoing financial review, to a newly proposed policy for concession stand operations that could benefit local school organizations.

The Annie Riggs Museum 70th Anniversary celebration featured special guests, including authors and exciting historical reenactments. Attendees enjoyed a Thrilling Old West Gunslinger Show as part of the festivities, performed by the local Pecos River Gang reenactors and the Ole West Gunfighters from San Antonio.
