Those Special Colts

Body
Years ago, my wife and I used to raise horses. One of the things I enjoyed the most was halter breaking, teaching the young colts to lead. Each one was different, and you never knew how they were going to turn out. We spent a lot of time with them and every now and then we would get an exceptional one. They would follow you wherever you would go without a lead rope or halter and were very gentle or docile and easy to train. It was fun to work with them and you could teach them many things. Those colts following us reminded me of something the Bible talks about, and it is very important in the Christian life. It is letting God lead your life and our willingness to follow, (John 10:3&4). Psalms 23 talks about the Lord God being our Shepherd or leader, (2 Corinthians 2:14). If we have not accepted Christ as Lord and Savior, we are not a part of his remuda or flock or family and we will not know His voice or be willing to follow, (John 10:26-30). A few of the colts we had were hard to work with and we could not do much with them and we did not enjoy them as much as the ones that were totally yielded to us. Are we in God’s hands and are we a joy to work with?

From the Pulpit

Body
I was feeling overwhelmed like drowning and holding in all these emotions. Once I gave it to God, He open the flood gates like the time when He parted the red sea for Moses.

When memory flails

Body
My sweet wife assures me that I just have too much on my mind, but I’m pretty sure she’s thinking about having me microchipped at this point. Now that my age has surpassed the mid-century mark and I’m more ancient than virtually all professional athletes, everyone in my department at work, and even my pastor at church, I’ve noticed that the old memory is not what it used to .

Drought conditions ease slightly while heat dome returns

Body
Drought conditions ease slightly while heat dome returns Drought conditions across the state dropped a percentage point in May compared to the previous month, with 26% of the state in some stage of drought, primarily in West and South Texas and parts of the Panhandle. Massive storms in late April and into May caused flooding and wind damage in East and North Texas but did pull those regions out of drought.

The Army and the Weather

Body
For most of mankind’s tenure on earth, predicting the weather has been local. Based on experience, one could determine the general patterns that might occur in the local vicinity. One might have general information about weather patterns in a region but understanding the “the weather” as we define it today, was beyond the capacity of local knowledge.
Today it is hard to imagine the communication revolution created by the telegraph. I am sure a good portion of today’s population has no idea what the telegraph is or how it worked.

Theatre receives donation

Body
The Fort Stockton Community Theatre has received a $30,000 grant from The Rea Charitable Trust to fund programs through 2024. The Rea Charitable Trust last awarded a grant to FSCT in 2018 during the capital campaign to build the new Nelson Street Theatre and remodel the old theatre into the FMH Meeting Hall. That building campaign was completed in less than five years, thanks to other grantors, business and individual donors, and government agency support.
