The Big Bend Open Road Race (BBORR) is geared up for drivers and fans alike. The streets will be humming from the horsepower from April 24 through April 27. This is the best road race around, with 59 miles each way for a 118-mile course.

Many Pecos County residents will have the opportunity to vote in the May 4 general election, depending on what precinct or ward you fall under. On the ballot this election cycle are two Fort Stockton Independent School District Board of Trustee seats, two Pecos County Hospital District seats, two Pecos County Water Improvement District seats, and the Red Bluff Water Control Power District.

The Fort Stockton High School Varsity Prowlers secured a playoff berth in dominant fashion but stumbled in their final regular-season game. Prowlers Clinch Early, Pummel Opponent on April 9 On a chilly Tuesday night in Wigwam Stadium, the Prowlers wasted no time showcasing their offensive prowess.

The High School Panthers Baseball teams faced a challenging week on the diamond, experiencing both close calls and defeats. The Varsity squad opened the week on Tuesday, April 9, battling against the Seminole Indians.

The Fort Stockton Middle School Tennis team brought home a haul of medals after battling the heat and tough competition at the Wink Jr. High Tennis Tournament last Saturday, April 13. Coach Cody Aaron praised his players for their perseverance, highlighting their achievements despite the challenging conditions.

Yaneli Caballero isn’t afraid of a challenge. The Fort Stockton sophomore proved her mettle at the recent 3-4 and 4-A Area Track Meet, conquering not only her competition but also her own nerves to claim the Area Championship in the Long Jump with a personal record and school record-breaking leap of 17’3”.
