Several Opinion pieces have been published in the Pioneer questioning the health and wellbeing of the Edwards-Trinity Aquifer in the Fort Stockton area. This Aquifer is an incredible resource which recharges annually and has long supplied drinking water to Ft. Stockton, irrigation for local farmers, and periodic winter flows to Comanche Springs.

It is important to note that an arrest should not be considered as evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

A 58-year-old Alpine man was killed Sept. 14 when a vehicle he was driving ran off the roadway on Farm-to-Market Road 1776, one mile north of Interstate 10 in Pecos County. The accident took place at approximately 7:06 p.m. when Jason Keith Richardson, 58, of Alpine, was driving his 1995 Honda Accord southbound on FM 1776 at what Troopers described as an unsafe speed when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle veered off the highway into the east barrow ditch, over-corrected, and rolled over. The driver was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Mitchell.

*Deven-Lee Xadren Fierro, DOB 8/26/2005, offense date 12/30/2022 (CR-25309, Resist Arrest Search or Transport) Defendant pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one hundred eighty (180) days in the county jail, suspended for twelve (12) months on Community Supervision; $1,500 General Fine; $0.00 Mandatory Fines; $0.00 Restitution; $260.00 Court Costs; $82.00 Reimbursement Fees; zero (0) hours of Community Service; $60.00 Monthly Community Supervision Fee; Additionally, pursuant to Texas Penal Code Section 12.45, in which the defendant is charged with an unindicted Assault on a Public Servant with an offense date of 12;30/2022 now pending in the 83rd Court of Pecos County, Texas, shall be combined with this cause for the purposes of punishment.
