FSISD registration begins Aug. 2

The 2023-2024 school year begins Aug. 14 and registration for the upcoming year will begin for all campuses on Aug. 2. Registration for Fort Stockton ISD students will be starting at 8 a.m. and K-12 students (returning and new) can register on-line at the district’s web page at https://www.fsisd. net/2023Registration. Parents enrolling students in Pre-K will need to register in-person at the Apache Elementary campus.

With a warm heart and a profound sense of gratitude, I am pleased to inform you that our beloved mother, Ernestina Hagy (Valenzuela), has peacefully joined the Lord today, July 20, at 3:08 p.m. We find solace in knowing that she has found eternal happiness in the embrace of our Heavenly Father. Ernestina lived a life filled with love, compassion, and kindness, and her presence brought immense joy to all who knew her. She touched our lives in countless ways, and her memory will forever be cherished.

School district approves safety resolution

In a specially called Fort Stockton Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting, Monday afternoon, the board voted on a resolution to comply with state school security mandates. House Bill 3 requires at least one armed security guard be at each campus in the school district, and the school district was going to work with the Fort Stockton Police Department on security until the city backed away due to staffing issues.
