County golf course to receive upgrade?

A significant upgrade to Desert Pines Golf Course in Fort Stockton could soon be in the works after a decision made the by the Pecos County Commissioners Court on May 23. The Commissioners approved a $20,000 contract for McCampbell Irrigation to design a new irrigation system.

County receives new ambulance via grant funds

Pecos County’s newest ambulance will be operation beginning next week according to Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster. Pecos County recently received $3,073,432 from the American Rescue Plan Act federal funds to use towards COVID related county services.

Adan Nava Rivera, 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 17, 2022, after a brief illness. He was born in Valentine, Texas, on Nov. 29, 1933, to Lorenzo Rivera and Modesta Rivera. He served in the U.S. Navy, then worked his entire career with Enron, formerly Northern Natural Gas Co., until he retired.

Film Society to screen “North by Northwest”

The Fort Stockton Film Society is hosting date night with a showing of the classic Alfred Hitchcock film, “North by Northwest” on Saturday, June 11, at 7 p.m. As an added feature, there will be a classic Warner Brothers cartoon screened just before the main feature.

Melba Jo Siegmund (Jo to her friends and immediate family, Melba to her extended family) went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 4, 2022, in Marble Falls, Texas, following an extended series of physical setbacks. Several times she confounded the predictions of various physicians by bouncing back, but her body finally wore out.

Summer Off The Patio concerts return

The Annie Riggs Memorial Museum kicked off it’s annual Summer Off The Patio concert series with a successful opener last Thursday, May 26.

Soul artist Donovan Keith of Austin provided a blend of soul, funk and rock as his band played drums, bass, guitar, keys and saxophone.

The gunman who killed 21 people inside a Uvalde elementary school walked into the unlocked building unopposed, the Department of Public Safety said in a revised statement, as reported by the Austin American-Statesman and other media sources.
