Cactus Health Services to receive grant

Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) announced on Monday that Cactus Health Services in Fort Stockton will receive $1 million in grant funds from the Department of Health and Human Services. “I am proud to announce this critical healthcare funding for Fort Stockton,” said Congressman Gonzales.

Ministerial Alliance begins Lenten luncheons

The first Ministerial Alliance Lenten Luncheon was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton on March 8. Over 50 people gathered for the event, which featured a meal, gospel music, and a devotional by Rev. Dr. Jim Miles. The second Ministerial Alliance’s Lenten luncheon will be held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, March 15. The sponsoring churches are First Christian Church and Faith Lutheran Church. The event begins at 11:45 a.m. and includes a meal, music, and a devotional.

Propane fire destroys vehicles

No one was injured and two vehicles received significant damage from a fire that was ignited near the propane filling tank at Love’s Travel Stop in Fort Stockton on March 4 according to Fort Stockton Fire Department Chief Jessie Dominguez.

Old hospital demolished in Fort Stockton

The old Pecos County Hospital was demolished on March 3 by numerous entities within the county. All the county precincts tore down the structure with the aid of the Iraan crew of Precinct 3.
A pile of ruble was all that was left of the old Pecos County Hospital that was located on Spring Drive near Sanderson Highway after an excavator and a bulldozer demolished the building on March 3. Photo by Jeremy Gonzalez
