Gomez, Pacheco earn silver medals

Sophomore duo Athena Gomez and Jaslyn Pacheco finished the Big Spring Invitational on March 4 with silver medals in hand. Fort Stockton head coach Victor Garcia explained that the pair have made significant strides through hard work since the beginning of the season and that they continue to strive to play at their best week in and week out.

“They’ve shown improvement at each and every tournament, only achieving better results than the last,” he said.

Sheriff Santiago Gonzalez, Jr., 55, of Sanderson, was called by our heavenly Father on March 2, 2022. He was born Nov. 24, 1966, in Chicago, Ill., to Santiago Gonzalez, Sr., and Maria Rafaela Garcia De Gonzalez. He was raised and spent most of his adolescence in Laredo, Texas.

Consuelo Rodriguez Tarin

Consuelo Rodriguez Tarin, 94, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed from this life on March 5, 2022. She was born on Feb. 16, 1928, to Antonio and Dolores Rodriguez in DuBose, Texas. Consuelo was married to the late Rumaldo G. Tarin, who passed away in 2019. They were married for 72 love-filled years.

On Feb. 24, 1943, the Lord's most dutiful angel was brought into this world by Jimmy Lee Payne and Virginia Neeb Payne. His name was James O. Payne, 79, a resident of The Colony, Texas. He was born in Coleman, Texas, and he grew up in Cross Plains, Texas, where he graduated from Cross Plains High School. After high school, he went to McMurry University where he got his degree in teaching. On March 4, 2022, he was called back to heaven to carry out the work of our heavenly Father.

Juan Antonio Garcia, of College Station at 10:19 a.m., officers from the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Garcia on a warrant from COMM-possession of a controlled substance penalty group one more 200 grams less than 400 grams. Garcia will serve sentence and is still in jai.

Gonzales announces Falcon as district director

Body

Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) named Fort Stockton native Jalen Falcon as his new district director on Monday after serving as Gonzales’ regional director since 2021.

Falcon will lead Gonzales’ team in the 23rd District of Texas, overseeing the five district offices in San Antonio, Uvalde, Fort Stockton, Socorro and Del Rio.

Ureste was the top performer for Fort Stockton, placing seventh (score of 112) – one spot out from a medal. Gabriela Galindo took 13th and Adriana Aguilar finished in 18th out of 27 golfers.
