Freshman shows promise for Prowlers softball

While the season is still young for the Prowlers softball team, there is plenty of reason to believe that Darrian Roberson’s program is in good hands for many years to come. Freshman Kriselda Porras exemplified her potential to begin the season on the mound and fellow classmate Mia Garcia has followed suit at the plate, leading her Class 4A 20th ranked Prowlers in hits, doubles, and runs to start the Prowlers’ 2022 campaign.

Wilkins sets regional powerlifting record

The Prowler powerlifting team is headed to state. The dominant eight-lifter squad earned third place as a team at their regional powerlifting meet in Monahans on March 5 behind a record-setting performance by Tori Wilkins.

Five individuals, two relays win titles at Sandhills Relays

Fabian Perez, Zane Hodges, and Ali Jackson have undefeated streaks are still intact. The standout track trio for Fort Stockton continued to blaze paths to more gold medals on March 4 in Monahans at the Sandhills Relays while defending titles in their strong-suited events.

Each year over much of the last decade, something has been happening in Fort Stockton that was unheard of for nearly half a century: Comanche Springs starts flowing again. As most Fort Stockton residents know, the spring that once earned the town the mantle of Spring City stopped flowing in the 1960s as groundwater pumping west of town intensified.

There’s a slew of restaurants and attractions that come up when a city name is searched online. Canoeists Mike and Hannah shared that they punched in “restaurants in Fort Stockton” into their search and discovered the Miller Meat Company at 1013 N. Nelson St.

Pain management to be offered at PCMH

Pecos County Memorial Hospital will give residents more healthcare accessibility beginning next month via a new pain management clinic in Fort Stockton. “It’s really important for us to be able to offer these pain management services in rural areas,” said Lee Webber, Acute and Chronic Pain Management Specialist.

Zip line installed at Rooney Park

Pecos County Precinct No. 2 installed a new zip line as an addition to the existing playground on the southside of Rooney Park last week. Kids are able to ride the zip line by standing on the platforms on either end of the line and sitting on a small seat provided on the equipment.
