Downtown Fort Stockton took the form of a walking district Saturday as the farmers market and SpringsFest played out in conjunction. The dual events attracted over 200 people to roam the Rooney Park, Zero Stone Park, and Annie Riggs Museum.

Convention center receives facelift

The Fort Stockton Convention Center, located at 2181 SW Interstate 10, now has a new sign after Fort Stockton native Juan Antonio Vasquez built and installed the sign with a large lift last weekend. The convention center has received significant renovations since the building was bought by the city in August of 2020.

Desert Pines to purchase more golf carts

To keep up with the high demand, the Desert Pines Golf Course will be adding 10 additional golf carts to its supply. On March 7, the Pecos County Commissioners Court approved an early release of funds to pro shop manager Fabian Zorilla’s for a check of over $3,000, which is needed to guarantee the delivery of the new golf carts.

Comanche Springs Rodeo to feature pair of bands

This year’s Comanche Springs Rodeo will have a welcome addition to the annual event. Following the rodeo on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26, the Pecos County Civic Center will host dances that feature two bands – Honky Tonkers and 12 Mile.
Mutton Busting is a must-see event at every rodeo, as was the case at last year’s Comanche Springs Rodeo at the Pecos County Coliseum. Viewers will get the pleasure of watching the event once again at this year’s rodeo in Fort Stockton. Photo by Nathan Heuer
