Midland College/WRTTC hosted a retirement reception for Elizabeth Lara, fourth from the right, who was employed at the college for 15 years. Lara’s last day will be on Thursday, March 31 Lara was previously the Scholars’ Dollars Coordinator and the secretary at the campus in Fort Stockton.

In an effort to compensate their employees for the recent spike in gas prices and keep the Fort Stockton Independent School District campuses clean, the FSISD school board School approved a one-time stipend to teachers at their regular meeting on March 28.

In conjunction with the city of Fort Stockton, the Pecos County Commissioners Court set the dates for the county clean-up for April 11 through April 29. The first week will aid the city in their spring bulky pick-up.

Pecos County Toastmasters met on the March 25 for their second meeting of the month. President Karan Heffelfinger presented awards to the following (left to right): Joni McGee - Best Table Topics Speaker, Houston McKenzie - Best Speaker, Santa Dominguez - Best Evaluator.
