Families of all kinds were welcomed at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish North Campus in Fort Stockton on Saturday, Dec. 4 for Breakfast with Santa. After devouring a stack of pancakes dunked in maple syrup, the young and young at heart were eager to take photos with Santa and share what they hoped to find under the tree this Christmas season. The Annual Fort Stockton Christmas Parade took place on Dickinson Boulevard and Main Street on Dec. 3. Over 50 vehicles and 100 individuals participated in the event. The winners of this year’s parade were: Best Overall - Mesquite Tree Gifts, Ice Cream and Coffee Shop; Best Float - O’Reilly’s Autoparts; Best Walking - Fort Stockton High School Band; Best Riding - Lannom Industries Buggies. Veterans Outreach & Engagement held in Fort Stockton

Veterans in Pecos County received an opportunity for aid that hadn’t been presented before in the area’s history this past week. The Veterans Outreach & Engagement event was held at the large Community Hall at Rooney Park in Fort Stockton on Dec.

It is a word that is heard often. But for Rachel Rodriguez, it is a way of life.

As a 1991 graduate of Fort Stockton High School, Rodriguez’s pride and joy has always been with her community. She hopes to continue that connection in her new position at the Pecos County Memorial Hospital as Chief Nursing Officer.

Film Society sets free holiday movie slate

The Fort Stockton Film Society will offer two great holiday movies for the Christmas season at no charge.

Bring the family to laugh at National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation on Saturday, Dec. 18, and then come back on Tuesday, Dec. 21, for A Wonderful Life.

Rotary Toy Drive concludes on Dec. 10

With a Dec. 10 deadline approaching, the Fort Stockton Rotary is again in need of new, unwrapped toys to give to area children for Christmas.

Every year the Rotary Club collects toys from the drop off boxes around town, then delivers them to the homes of children who might not get a good Christmas.

Senior Center to Host Christmas Lunch

After nearly a year of being unable to host gatherings because of COVID restrictions, the Pecos County Senior Center will hold a Christmas luncheon at noon on Friday, Dec. 17. The meal is free to all Senior Center members, but memberships are only $5 a year and open to all Pecos County seniors.

Martin Luther Palmer, Jr., 81, of Longview, Texas, passed away Nov. 21, 2021, after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 17, 1940. The family held a private memorial service Saturday, Dec.11, 2021, to celebrate his life. It was a party.

Martin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Madonna, and grandson Samuel Kinsel.

Ricardo V. Tavarez

Ricardo V. Tavarez, of Fort Stockton, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 29, 2021, in San Angelo, Texas, at the age of 63. He was born on Nov. 21, 1958, in Marfa, Texas, to Jesus and Amanda (Villanueva) Tavarez.

Marcey, was born in Fort Stockton, Texas, on Aug. 10, 1959, to Bobby Gene and Elsie Carol Brown, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 3, 2021.
Marcey graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1977 and completed her LPN certification at Fort Stockton Memorial Hospital on Dec. 8, 1988. She spent the rest of her career sharing her passion for the benefit of her patients. She finished her nursing career with Dr. Bhattis pulmonary department in Granbury, Texas. Prior to her nursing career, Marcey studied and worked as a hairdresser.
