Fort Stockton Independent School Board Members Flo Garcia III and Ursula Sanchez took an oath of office at the school board meeting on May 24 at the district’s administration office. Sanchez is a new member and elected in an uncontested race, replacing 15-year board member Tom Ezell.

Dorothea Ferrante passed away in Mesquite, Texas, on Feb. 5, 2021, at the age of 99 from complications of COVID-19. She was born in Owensboro, Ky., on May 31, 1921, to Ruth Knight Norris and Elmer Norris.

Joe Luis Armendariz, 71, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on May 24, 2021, in Odessa. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Terry Honaker was born in Pecos, Texas, Sept. 23, 1953, and passed on May 4, 2021.

One of the best to ever do it on a golf course at Fort Stockton High School had his career come to an end on May 18 at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle.
