In her first official start on the mound in her career, freshman Kriselda Porras looked anything but an inexperienced underclassman in the Prowlers season-opener at Presidio on Feb. 15.

And Fort Stockton’s bats made sure she had no worries.

The Prowlers scratched out 11 hits and Porras allowed only two runs in a 15-2 victory on Tuesday.

“She pitched a strong game from the beginning,” Prowlers head coach Darrian Roberson said. "All together we looked good. We need to clean up some errors that we had and we are good to go. Our hitting came around today. It was good to see it come alive and give us an opportunity to run different offensive plays to put girls in scoring positions."

Roberson noted that Senior Alyana Dominguez wrapped up the game in a solid fashion on the mound by allowing no runs.

Fort Stockton committed seven errors and left three on base in the win.

Up next is the Prowlers 13-team home tournament that will run Feb. 17-19.

The Prowlers pool games are Thursday, Feb. 17. The first game is at 9:30 a.m. and the second game will be at 3:30 p.m.

The Prowlers will continue play on Saturday after Thursday’s games.
