Pacheco, Gomez named to all-district first team
Jacob Pacheco and Alexander Gomez, the Panthers No. 1 and No. 5 singles tennis players, earned top honors within Fort Stockton’s district in Class 4A after successful performances this past fall.
The duo was named to the first-team, all-district squad in their respective lines at the district certification meeting on Nov. 2.
While the pair of Panthers headlined Fort Stockton’s performance on the court, the entire team put forth an abovethe- fold effort in the classroom.
The Fort Stockton tennis team had a 100% passing rate through the whole season, a grade average of 84% or higher, and have nine of their 16 varsity players named to the academic all-district team.
“I would like to congratulate the whole team. We were able to bring home some awards on both ends, athletic and academic,” coach Victor Garcia said.
Jeremiah Ramirez and Christian Dominguez earned second-team honors at the No. 2 and No. 3 single lines for the boys.
Dylan Jones was the district’s newcomer in the boy’s division. Jones joined Gomez for second- team doubles honors at the three line.
No. 1 singles team, Pacheco and Ramirez, earned second-team honors, as well as the No. 2 doubles team for the boys in Cruz Rocha and Dominguez.
In girl’s singles, Jaslene Tijerina was honorable mention, as well Zachary Urias in mixed doubles.
Academic all-district selections were for Fort Stockton were: Athena Gomez, Jaslyn Pacheco, Daeja Dominguez, Adison Fowler, Jacob Pacheco, Jeremiah Ramirez, Dylan Jones, Alexander Gomez, Jayden Jarboe.
