Mata chosen for FCA all-star volleyball game
The Fort Stockton High School Volleyball program is ecstatic to announce the selection of Eliana "Lala" Mata to the inaugural Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Permian Basin Volleyball All-Star Game. The senior will be competing among various volleyball players from around the Permian Basin.
"I love when our athletes are able to be recognized for their hard work that they have put into their sport," Fort Stockton ISD Athletic Director Jeremy Hickman said. "Eliana was a great leader for our girl’s athletics program, competing in everything from cheerleading to basketball. I am pleased with her commitment and dedication to leaving the Prowler Athletics Program better than the way she found it. We will miss her here in Prowler Nation, but we are excited to see her go on and represent Fort Stockton."
The All-Star week is set for June 14-17 at the University of Texas Permian Basin campus in Odessa. Volleyball participants are set to be coached by coaches from Midland Legacy High School, Midland Christian High School and Andrews High School.
The ultimate goal of the FCA Permian Basin All-Star week according to the organization is to have an event that becomes the pinnacle event for Permian Basin FCA annually, reaching more schools and athletes with the gospel.
The organization hopes to expand community involvement and increase the ministry awareness throughout the region. The games will provide a unique four-day experience of competition, ministry, fellowship, and celebration of coaches and athletes.
