Fort Stockton XC claim team titles, three individual golds
Fort Stockton was crowned team champions in three separate divisions and three individuals took home gold medals on Sept. 10 at the 19th Annual Wink Wildcat Cross Country Invitational.
Ali Jackson won the girl’s division, Fabian Perez won the boy’s varsity division, and Khalil Jackson took first place in the boy’s junior varsity division. Jackson clocked a two-mile time of 13 minutes 11 seconds and Summer Hinojos followed with a 10th place finish in the girl’s division, crossing the finish line in 13:53.
Natalie Molinar placed 24th. In the boy’s varsity 5K race, the Panthers swept the top four spots as Juan Vela took second (17:19), Jesus Hernandez took third (17:19), and Aryan Hernandez placed fourth (17:59).
Diego Ronquillo rounded out the varsity team’s showing with an eighth-place finish (18:11).
Perez cruised to a first-place finish in a time of 16:35.
In the boy’s JV division, Zeke Soto took second behind Jackson and Jose Aguilar placed third.
Madi Castro took 11th in the middle school girl’s division and Santiago Tarrango led the middle school boy’s in their two-mile race, finishing in 22nd.
The Fort Stockton cross country varsity teams will travel to compete in the UIL Region I Cross Country Championships in Lubbock at Mae Simmons Park on Saturday, Sept. 17.
