Seminole 7 Panthers JV 6
The junior varsity blue baseball team traveled to Seminole on April 5 to conclude the first round of district play.
The Panthers jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Josiah Trejo.
After four innings the Panthers found themselves down 4-1.
Fort Stockton swung the momentum in their favor with production at the plate, tying the game at 4-4.
Bryan Encinas and Kael Rojero both recorded RBIs in the Panthers rally.
In the top of the seventh inning the Panthers fell 6-4 before tying the at 6-6 in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings.
Darian Renteria sent the game into extra innings off a sacrifice fly.
“It was a very well and hard fought game for us. We competed very hard,” Fort Stockton coach Hector Herrera said.
Divani Palacios got the start for the Panthers on the mound and was able to throw 4 plus innings. Gamma Corral provided relief in the final five innings.
Monahans 9 Panthers JV 7
On Friday, the Panthers traveled to Monahans for their fourth district game.
The Panthers struck first making it a 4-0 ballgame in the top of the second inning. Monahans answered back and eventually took a 9-5 lead after three innings.
Johndrey Reyes started on the mound for the Panthers, striking out four batters in 3.1 innings of work.
Encinas came into to close the game on the mound.
“We showed a lot of fight but unfortunately came up short,” Herrera said.
Joey Herrera went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs. Zhane Natividad had three RBIs, and Adrian Natividad had two RBIs.
