After the music stops
While scrolling through Facebook, I saw a post of a bird saying, “Chirp,” and another bird saying, “Great, now I have that song in my head.”
I thought it was so funny because I believe it happens to most of us. We are listening to music, and one little phrase just stays lingering in your head. Before you know it, there you are singing it. Then after a while the music stops.
I think that this Lenten season is about the same as a lingering song. It reminds us of what Jesus did for us for about 40 days, then it’s back to our usual selves, me included - constantly hearing little things here and there but not really taking the time to meditate on what went on.
Well, I speak for myself, I find myself crying at a commercial about “The Passion of Christ,” yet thinking about the movie, and how sad it is, and debate to watch it again or not.
Now I feel the hurt knowing what He went through, and how it would have been at that time to witness such a sight. Sometimes we talk or sing about Jesus dying on the cross, and the words are so familiar that we don’t really let the horrible truth of what He went through for us sink in. And most of us forget that “song.” I invite you to read John 19:1-42, and take time to break down each verse and the meaning behind that time in history. So even after the music stops, it stays lingering in your heart forever.
Take this time, as I will, to read about Jesus’ Passion for us, that knowing what He was going to face, still He laid down His life for you and me. Amen!
Side note - I did watch the movie.
Many blessings.
