The angels came for Lorie to take her home on October 12.

Lorie was born January 2, 1962, to Ismael and Frances Moreno. Many people didn’t know that her given name at birth was Loretta. She had a nickname of “Punkin”. She lost her battle from Multiple Myeloma cancer. Lorie started working at the age of 13 at the local Dairy Queen. She worked for several state agencies such as the Texas Youth Commission, Texas Department of Human Services, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and Texas Department of Aged and Disability Services.

She was able to retire after 29 years of state service. Lorie took great joy in spoiling her two nephews and was known to travel from Austin to Fort Stockton to watch them play various school sports. She enjoyed working in the yard and decorating her home. Her favorite sports to watch were the Dallas Cowboys, boxing and bull riding. Her favorite movies/series were Twister, Gladiator and Mayans. Lorie’s favorite musical artist was Carlos Santana.

She loved to tell jokes and make people laugh even at her own expense. At her workplace she was called the “social butterfly” because she always found a reason to have a social gathering. Family, peace, prayer and God were all very important to her. Lorie is survived by brother, Ismael Moreno Jr, (BB); sister, Elva Moreno and two nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Ismael and Frances Moreno.
