Fort Stockton ISD, Texas Tech partnership aids mental health needs

Today’s children and adolescents deal with an array of psychological and emotional stresses that keep them from learning, developing, and achieving at their full potential.  The issues are not all dealing with COVID or the effects of social isolation or the learning loss that our children are experiencing.

COVID did not start the rise in our youth needing additional psychological and emotional support, but it did make the problems worse.

County approves purchase of K-9 for PCSO

The Fort Stockton City Council, at its Jan. 9, 2023 meeting, passed an ordinance that will now allow more bodies to be buried per individual grave, or plot, at East Hill Cemetery. Ordinance 23-100 amends Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances, Article III, East Hill Cemetery, to allow for two bodies, or four cremains, to be buried at each plot. 

“You have to get consent of all the owners of each plot,” said city attorney Puja Boinpally.

County approves purchase of K-9 for PCSO 

Body

With a mutual aid agreement now in place between Pecos and Terrell Counties to assist with the influx of illegal migrants crossing into Terrell County, Pecos County took defense of the border a step further at the Jan. 9 county commissioner’s meeting. 

The court approved the purchase of a K-9 narcotics officer that will be used on patrols in both counties as part of the mutual aid agreement.
