Back in the USSR days,
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics,
Joseph Stalin had a
Secret Service Chief named
Lavrentiy Beria who had a practice
of “Show me the man and
I’ll show you the crime.” Beria
used his twisted system to eliminate
the political opponents of
Stalin.

Beatriz Cardenas Ponce, 85, who loved to be called “Miama” passed away peacefully in her home in Fort Stockton, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023.

Beatriz was born in Colonia Esperanza, Chihuahua Mexico on Aug. 2, 1938, to Vicente Cardenas and Mercedes Bolanos.

Saul G. Ortiz, 69, of Fort Stockton, Texas passed away on Aug. 1, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. 

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend, 301 N. Main Street in Fort Stockton. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend with Isael Dela O Officiating. 

There will be a celebration of life meal following funeral service at the Fort Stockton Small Community Hall.
