Fort Stockton woman dies in rollover crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported on Sunday that a 40-year-old Fort Stockton woman died in a rollover accident on Friday, Feb. 12 on U.S Highway 67 at mile marker 810 – 26 miles northeast of Fort Stockton.

Lorena Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-car crash that happened at 6:55 a.m.

James Solomon Shellenberger, 88, of Fort Stockton, Texas, died Jan. 24, 2021.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jimmie Lee Bean Shellenberger.

Fort Stockton High School Social Studies Teacher Vibert Skeete received a proclamation recognizing African American Heritage Month on Monday, Feb. 8 at the Pecos County Courthouse at the commissioners regular meeting. The proclamation called upon all citizens to join the students of Pecos County, and the members of the George Washington and Abraham Lincoln Volunteer Club to observe the month of February 2021, as African Heritage Month, they ask that the month be observed in honor of those who have worked to build a stronger more united country that is known as the land of the free, and home of the brave.
