A Pecos County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been formally recognized for her courage after being injured in the line of duty. Deputy Chelsea Rose was awarded a framed Resolution for her bravery and sacrifice following an incident where she was shot during a traffic stop in Iraan.

In a world where peace can feel like just a word, students from Fort Stockton High School and Fort Stockton Middle School are taking action to make it a visual reality. Through their participation in an international art and literacy project, local students have created a “Pinwheels for Peace” art exhibit to express their feelings about peace.

The Fort Stockton City Council convened for a regular meeting on Monday, September 8, tackling a comprehensive agenda that included budget approval, tax rate adjustments, utility and zoning ordinance changes, several key agreements, and the official designation of a Halloween date for the community. Mayor Paul Casias presided over the meeting, which saw no public testimony on regular agenda items.
