Middle Pecos Groundwater District Raises Fines

The Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District board on Tuesday approved significant rule amendments, including raising maximum civil penalties for violations, and confirmed it had secured grant contracts worth nearly $10 million for plugging orphan wells. The district board convened its regular meeting November 18, and adopted amendments to District Rules that implement statutory changes mandated by the 89th Texas Legislature.
