Skyrocket, missile fireworks prohibited in county
Rooney Park in Fort Stockton, Sheffield Park, and Iraan’s Alley Oop Park will be the three locations in Pecos County without any firework restriction on July 4.
The restriction was put in place due to the drought conditions in the county.

Charles Massey El Jr., of Houston at 8:59 a.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Massey El and he was charged with five counts of smuggling of persons. Massey El received bonds totaling $50,000 and is still in jail.
Fire near city totals trailer
No one was injured in a fire that occurred at a residence near the intersection of Robin St. and Oriole Ln. on June 13 in Fort Stockton.
The flames totaled a trailer house, storage building, and travel trailer according to Fort Stockton Fire Department Chief Jessie Dominguez.
Fort Stockton ISD to revamp CTE programs
Despite Bond Proposition A not passing during the May 7 election, the Fort Stockton Independent School District decided to move forward with $500,000 of improvements to get their Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs revived.
New walking trail completed
The new walking trail at Gene Cummings Park in Fort Stockton has been poured and completed over the course of the past six weeks after the park’s improvement project groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 25. The approximately $60,000 trail is of four additions that will be completed at the park.

County golf course to receive upgrade?
A significant upgrade to Desert Pines Golf Course in Fort Stockton could soon be in the works after a decision made the by the Pecos County Commissioners Court on May 23. The Commissioners approved a $20,000 contract for McCampbell Irrigation to design a new irrigation system.
